Good Evening Parents and Guardians,

This is your principal of Stephenson High School, Principal Jones.

Monday, September 24th is Picture Day for 9th, 10th and 11th Grade Scholars.  Please make sure they come dress to impress Monday for their School Pictures.  These photos will used on their school Identification Card.  We will announce when the ID Cards come back from the photographer.

Exciting News.  The Sprint Corporation will be distributing Internet Hotspots Devices next Wednesday here at Stephenson High School to scholars that do not have internet access at home.  In order to receive a hotspot device you must be eligible for the Free and Reduced Lunch and Breakfast Program and have a school issued chromebook.  There will not be a cost associated with receiving the device, however, if the device is not returned scholars will be held accountable for the full price of reimbursement.  Parent Consent Forms for the Hotspot Devices were sent home with your scholar this afternoon.  Sprint has only given the school a limited number of devices for this first deployment of Internet Hotspots so we will deploy them on a first come first serve bases.  Scholars or parents can submit completed forms to the main office only.  At that time we will time and date stamp the form.  We will issue the devices in that order until the number of hotspots given to us by Sprint are gone.

Finally parents please continue to talk to your scholar about scholar dress.  Most of the scholars that we see about dress code do not leave your home dressed inappropriately but change into items that they know are out of dress code before reaching school.  If you have any questions about the dress code, please go to the scholar handbook on the schools' website.

Thank you, have a great evening and remember our theme Jaguars, All IN G2G Geared to Greatness.

Good Morning Parents and Guardians,

This is your principal of Stephenson High School Mr. Jones.  If your scholar receives free or reduced lunch, you must complete a lunch form for the 2018/2019 school year.  Yesterday was the last day scholars were allowed to participate based on last year’s eligibility. Starting Monday, September 17th if your scholar does not have a 2018/2019 completed lunch form they will have to pay full price for their meal.  It is not too late to complete the application on line.  Any application fully completed before Sunday will be processed for Monday morning.   Parents you need only to go to our school’s website to complete an application for this school year.

Come out to PTSA Meeting, Tuesday, September 18th at 6:30pm in the auditorium.  Our executive board will share the proposed budget, and their exciting plans for this upcoming year.  One of our goals this year is to increase our school's PTSA membership.  You can also join on Tuesday.  The cost for membership is $10. Look forward to seeing each of you there.

Scholars will receive their progress report on Wed, Sept 19th.  Please be on the lookout for the great news.

Parents please continue to talk to your scholar about scholar dress.  Most of the scholars that we see about dress code do not leave your home dressed inappropriately but change into items that they know are out of dress code before reaching school.  If you have any questions about the dress code, please go to the scholar handbook on the schools' website.

Good Evening Parents and Guardians,

This is your principal of Stephenson High School, Principal Jones.  Parents, as a reminder, every Thursday scholars will have the opportunity to purchase the insurance for their chromebook. It is critical that scholars have this important learning tool.  As you are aware, this is Hurricane season and in the event of bad weather, scholars will be required to complete online/virtual assignments if school is closed due to the bad weather.  Again don’t allow your scholar to be caught without this valuable learning tool.  Scholars can pay for the insurance during their lunch period. The cost is $20 cash or parents can visit the school’s website to pay the insurance online.  Those scholars that purchased their insurance last week will receive their chromebooks tomorrow.

Thank you, have a great evening and remember our theme, Jaguars All IN, G2G Geared to Greatness.

Great Morning Parents and Guardians,

This is your principal of Stephenson High School, Principal Jones.

Any scholar that receives free or reduced lunch must have parents complete a lunch form for the 2018/2019 school year.  So far this year scholars have been allowed to participate based on last year’s eligibility, however, Monday, September 17th will be the final day that they will be allowed to participate on last year status.  Parents must go to our school’s website to complete an application for this year before September 17th.

Please make sure that your scholar gains access to a Chromebook. This critical learning tool is necessary for your scholar to reach his or her maximum potential in school.  Going forward we will deploy devices only on Thursdays. Parents can still go to our website and click on Chromebook Insurance payments or send scholars to purchase the insurance on Thursdays during their lunch period.  The cost is still $20 cash only payments.  Our numbers show us that our Freshman scholars are lagging behind in receiving their Chromebooks.

Finally, parents, continue to monitor your scholar by checking their notebooks in their core classes.  Remember an up to date, well organized notebook is an indicator that your scholar is on track in that class.  Also, daily studying, is a good habit of a successful scholar.  Even if a teacher does not assign homework, reviewing what was covered in class that day is great way for scholars to ensure that they truly understood what was covered and it gives them the confidence to participate in classroom discussions the next school day.

Thank you, enjoy your weekend and remember our Theme, Jaguars, ALL IN G2G Geared to Greatness

Good Evening Parents and Guardians,

This is your principal of Stephenson High School, Principal Jones.

Senior year is finally here.  I know that you are excited, but you may be anxious too.  In an effort to bring down your level of anxiety, I want to invite you to our Annual Senior Parent Night.  This will be held next Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at 6:00pm here at Stephenson High School.

During our Annual Senior Parent Night our counseling department will share important information about testing dates, college requirements and deadlines, Dual enrollment information, Individual senior/parent conferences, other post-secondary options, scholarships and several local College Representatives will be in Attendance.  You will receive a lot of information; however, we will talk with you on how to manage all of this information during this important year in your scholar’s life.

Also, senior parents, the fees for seniors have been established and are available to view on the school’s website.  The senior class sponsor will also be present during the meeting and you can begin paying toward your dues at that time.  You can also pay your dues on line by going to the school website and clicking on the Jaguar Store.  Senior fees paid on line must be paid in full as there is no partial payment option.

Cady Studios is the official photographer of the school.  There is one final date for seniors to take their senior pictures and that is Saturday, September 22nd.  Please go our website to Senior Portraits. Select the "exposure, brick, or vintage scenes" in order to see the school as an option for the appointment. If you want any other scene, please schedule an appointment at one of the Cady studios' locations. You can still go to the studio for your senior portraits until Nov. 3rd.  If you do not take your pictures by this date, you will miss the deadline to be included in the yearbook.   Finally, Herff Jones, our vendor for graduation products will be at the school tomorrow morning, that’s Saturday August 25th from 9:00am – 12noon.  Herff Jones supplies cap, gown and invitations for graduation.  Herff Jones will be at the school through-out the school year, so if you can’t make it tomorrow you will have multiple opportunities to meet the Herff Jones representative at the school.

An exact date and venue for graduation has not been established by the district office at this time.  As soon as this information is given to us, we will share it with you.

Wow, like I said parents, it is a lot, however, we are here to work with you make this final year a successful one for our scholar.   Have a great evening, and remember our theme, Jaguars, ALL IN, G2G Geared to Greatness but in this case G2G means Geared to Graduation.

August 18, 2018

Good Morning Parents and Guardians,

This is your principal of Stephenson High School, Principal Jones.

Please plan to come out to our next PTSA Meeting, Thursday, August 30 at 5:30pm.  Immediately following our 1st PTSA Meeting of the year we will have Curriculum Night.  During Curriculum Night you will have the opportunity to meet each of your scholar’s teachers, follow your scholar’s schedule and learn about the resources that are available to your scholar to ensure they are successful.  Please, please place this extremely important date on your calendar and I look forward to seeing each of you there.

We are getting close to our Chromebook Deployment next week.  In order for scholars to receive a chromebook they must have three things: a signed Parent Permission and Release Form, a signed Scholar Pledge Signature Page and pay $20 Apple Insurance.  The Release Form and Pledge page are located on the homepage of the school’s website.  The Apple Insurance can be paid online.  Just go to our school website and click on “Chomebook Payments”.  You will need your scholar’s 7 digit student number to start the process.  This number can be found on their class schedule, in infinite campus and most scholars know their ID number.  We will continue to collect cash only payments for the insurance at the school through Tuesday of next week.

Finally, I want to let you know that we are really off to great start. Scholars continue to be focused and locked in on learning.  Scholars should be studying each evening.  Studying does not mean that there is a test the next day, however, a scholar with a daily studying habit is not only prepared for a test but they are prepared to participate in the classroom instruction the next day.  True learning is interactive.  Another great way for you parents to check your scholar’s progress other than logging into infinite campus is by checking their notebook once or twice a week.  An organized, up to date note book is an important indicator that your scholar is on track with the learning in the class.

Thank you, have a restful weekend and remember our theme, Jaguars, ALL IN, G2G Geared to Greatness.

August 11, 2018

Good Morning Parents and Guardians,

This is your principal of Stephenson High School, Principal Jones.  I want to let you know we had a great first week.  Scholars were ready to learn and extremely attentive in our grade level expectation meetings.  Scholars know that it takes more than just wanting to do something to accomplish their goals, it takes Discipline to accomplish their goals.  We said it this way, Discipline, not desire, will determine your destination.

Starting next week scholars will go to their 1st period class first verses going to homeroom at the start of the day.  This means if a scholar arrives to school at 8:10 am, they are late to class and missing instruction and learning.  This tardiness will affect their performance in their class.

We are a Digital Dreamers School.  What this means is that all of our scholars are eligible to use a district issued lab top computer/Chromebook for 2018/2019 school year.  Chromebook Deployment will be on August 21st and August 22nd.  In order for scholars to receive a chromebook, they must have three things: a signed Parent Permission and Release Form, a signed Scholar Pledge Signature Page and pay $20 Apple Insurance.  The Release Form and Pledge page will be sent home with your scholar Monday.  The forms will also be placed on the school’s website next week.  The Apple Insurance can be paid starting today online.  Just go to our school website and click on “Chomebook Payments”.  You will need your scholar’s 7 digit student number to start the process.  This number can be found on their class schedule, in infinite campus and most scholars know their ID number.  Cash only payments for the insurance will be accepted at the school beginning Wednesday, August 15th.

Finally, please with your scholar review the district’s code of conduct book and scholar handbook one more time.  All expectations will be enforced.  The most common violations are with electronic devices and dress code.  We do not want scholars missing class for these preventable violations.  We appreciate your support.

Thank you have a great weekend and remember our theme, Jaguars, ALL IN, G2G Geared to Greatness.
